Wolf, sheep - or sheepdog?
by Nathan Natas inon sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs - by ltc (ret) dave grossman, author of "on killing.
honor never grows old, and honor rejoices the heart of age.
it does so because honor is, finally, about defending those noble and worthy things that deserve defending, even if it comes at a high cost.

So you feel the entire metaphor is moot? It was not intended to be a discussion of farm dogs.
I am grateful that some could discern the deeper meaning of the essay I quoted in the opening post.
How do you feel about the discussion of animal husbandry that famous tale "Animal Farm"? Any tips on the care and breeding of swine?

*lost*, I see that your reply to my request that you answer your own questions is remarkably thin on details, but that is probably just because you have no more substantial detail to provide, and you have been requested to dial-down the amount of invective*, cursing and swearing in your posts, so you have nothing to say. I'm wondering if you had to extrapolate your origins to your Neandertal tribes of 115,000 years ago to form a base for your claim to come from a 'Tribal' culture. What was it like to hunt prehistoric mammoths? Can you knap flint?
*I'll give you some time to get your dictionary, if you own one.

Self-made Persecution?
by Tech49 inat the recent dc, we had the 1 hour drama on sunday that focused on trusting in jehovah, no matter what events come up.
in the opening scene, we see a father watching a news broadcast on tv, and he learns that jw's have been banned, overnight.. this got me thinking, again.
almost weekly, we hear about persecution coming, soon soon soon!

This is precisely the same fantasy they were spewing in the 1960s. They have a pathological psychology that needs for them to be THE MOST IMPORTANT RELIGION IN THE WORLD. They are mentally diseased.

*lost* asked,
"NN - for you.
Have you fought in any wars. No, I was raised a JW and had a ministerial draft deferment when I was 18. What wars have you fought in, *lost*, or did you have a IV-D deferment too?
Has your father fought in any wars. Yes, my father served in Patton's Army in Europe. I also had an Uncle in the Navy, an Uncle in the AirForce, and an Uncle in the Marines who was wounded on Iwo Jiima. I have two cousins about my age who served in the military when they were called. One of those cousins retired from the FBI not long ago. Tell me about your family's military heritage, *lost*.
Has your grandfather fought in any wars. Yes. my grandfather fought in WWI and futher back a family member was an officer in the Army of the Czar of Russia. You?
Do you have any first hand experience of war. No. I regret my mother's fanatical religious devotion and I regret not having served. You?
Have you lived in an area that has suffered war. No. Have you?
THANKS FOR ASKING.

Would you be willing to try a little game with her?
Next time you're with her, try to THINK the phrase "captives of a concept" as often as you can without letting it interfere with your spoken conversation or activites. Kind of make it a mantra for when you are near her.
Something might happen.

Making a Last Will and testament for ex JWs
by Simon inso you survived the wts upbringing and despite a bad start managed to put your life back together and plan for the future:.
pension planning and general finance for ex-jws.
sadly, you may find yourself still at a disadvantage as you lack the support group of friends and family that many rely on and could be cut-off even from immediate family.. but it can't get any worse can it?.

Nathan Natas
This is EXCELLENT advice, Simon, and many XJWs still have "dubbish" thinking when it comes to personal finance. This discussion and your other discussion on pension planning may be of great benefit to people who are just now becoming AWAKE! about TTATT.
I have heard Circuit Servants say from the Kinngdom Hall platform "if you make it you should spend it, because it will be worthless after Armageddon." Of course these Circuit Servants were parasites living off of donated money. It is interesting that the organization that doled out cash to the parasites was VERY focused on money management when it came to the accounts of The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.

For the benefit of others like me:
- - - begin quote - - -
Augustine of Hippo (aka Saint Augustine) asserted that Christians should be pacifists as a personal, philosophical stance. Nonetheless, he asserted, peacefulness in the face of a grave wrong that could only be stopped by violence would be a sin. Defense of one's self or others could be a necessity, especially when authorized by a legitimate authority. While not breaking down the conditions necessary for war to be just, Augustine nonetheless originated the very phrase, itself, in his work The City of God. In essence, the pursuit of peace must include the option of fighting to preserve it in the long-term. Such a war could not be pre-emptive, but defensive, to restore peace. Thomas Aquinas, centuries later, used the authority of Augustine's arguments in an attempt to define the conditions under which a war could be just." --Wikipedia (reference numbers removed to enhance readability)
- - - end quote - - -
Personally I can't agree with that. I don't believe in pacifism, which I think relies on the belief in an ultimate authority who will "balance accounts" in the afterlife. I don't believe in gods or an afterlife. I think it is immoral to ask others to do what you refuse to do for yourself. In my philosophy, pre-emptive strikes can perfectly justifiable; the "best defense is a strong offense" theory.
Young people die in wars. Young people also die as a result of alcohol poisoning, fast driving, the foolishness of youth, and an infinite variety of self-centered pursuits. Are those bringers of death more welcome? "Oh, he died doing what he loved most - making methamphetamine."
Listen to what soldiers tell of war, and hope that if fate calls on you, you can meet the challenge.
